Middle School Exploration Day

Ergersheim, 07/12/2017

On Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 we had visitors from Uffenheim Middle School who wanted to find out more about the various vocational training programs our company offers in-house. The students arrived at around 8.50 am and were welcomed by the trainees' supervisor and several trainees who provided them with some introductory information. After they watched our new image and product video, the students took our company tour starting around 9.30 am.

The first stop on the tour was our tool shop where two trainees told the students about their job responsibilities and the general work flows involved in tool making. The presentation was accompanied by individual tool demonstrations on site. The group then proceeded to the plastics engineering department to learn about the processes involved in producing plastic parts as well as machine programming and maintenance procedures, which were explained by another one of our trainees.

The next stop on the tour was the logistics department, where two colleagues showed us how incoming goods arrive in the receiving area and which processes follow after that. The students also watched a demonstration of storage and retrieval procedures and were given an overview of the high-bay warehouse. A colleague in the metalworking department explained to us how a production work station is created.

Another colleague showed the students around the production area and gave them an overview of how mirror systems are manufactured. Finally, the group returned to the meeting room in Ergersheim where they were given the opportunity to ask any questions they still had.

The Uffenheim Middle School students thanked us for an exciting and informative event.
We are very grateful to all involved and are looking forward to our next Exploration Day.
