When did you join MEKRA?
I joined MEKRA as a integrated degree student on October 1, 2015. I am studying Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and am in my 3rd semester. Semester. Earlier, while in technical high school, I did a 10-week internship at MEKRA Lang in Ergersheim.
How would you describe the combination of study and work?
The combination of study and work is a perfect arrangement. During the semester, I go to school just like the “regular” students and attend lectures. During semester breaks, I work at MEKRA and am assigned to departments where I can practice what I learned in my courses. It usually takes seven semesters to complete my degree; six of those are devoted to theory and one is an internship semester which I will also spend at MEKRA in a specific department. In the seventh semester, I will also write my Bachelor thesis in coordination with - and about - MEKRA Lang. Once I have completed my thesis, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Are you always assigned to the same department?
My advisor and I set up a schedule for all seven semesters making sure that it is aligned with my course of study. This schedule allows me to gather experience in different departments.
How does MEKRA support you in this integrated degree program?
MEKRA Lang helps me with my studies by providing financial, organizational and moral support.
What has been your experience so far?
My experience so far has been entirely positive. By trying out different departments I have already been able to learn a lot for my studies and my professional career.
What do you like best about MEKRA?
I like the support I am getting, the relaxed atmosphere in the company and also the rotation through different departments where I get to know my colleagues and different work processes. My experience so far has been only positive and I have met very nice colleagues who were always ready to answer my questions.
