Democracy courses as part of training

On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, the Bavarian Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann, will discuss the threat to democracy posed by extremism with 40 trainees from the MEKRA Lang company at the school hostel in Pottenstein.

Joachim Herrmann's visit is part of a democracy training course lasting several days, during which the trainees deal with both the fundamentals of democratic society, its democratic values and political processes, opportunities for participation, the threat to democracy posed by extremist groups, and the area of media and press relations.

The democracy courses are held as part of mehrWERT Demokratie - a project of the Bavarian Values Alliance, which was initiated by the Bavarian Minister President in 2010 and in which currently more than 160 organizations and associations have joined forces under the motto "Strong together for children, youths and young adults".Patron of the project is State Parliament President Barbara Stamm.

MEKRA Lang, the world market leader for vision systems in the commercial vehicle sector, is the first Bavarian company to make it possible for its trainees to take part in such training, thus underlining the special importance of promoting democracy.

Representatives of the press are cordially invited to attend the workshop on March 27, 2018, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Schullandheim Pottenstein (Finkenleite 1, 91278 Pottenstein).
