Sustainability attracts great interest among employees

As part of the anniversary year of the company MEKRA Lang in Ergersheim, an environmental day was held last Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in the new administration building in Ergersheim. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., interested parties from the company were able to obtain information.

Julia Hartmann (Sustainability Manager) and Patrick Unkauf (Energy Manager) used exhibits and posters to inform their colleagues about what MEKRA Lang is already implementing to produce and operate sustainably. For example, the new administration building is heated with waste heat from LANG Technics. But also in the value chain of mirror production, energy is reused, waste is saved and passed on to recycling companies for reuse. In addition, the elimination and prevention of leakage was addressed.

Energy and waste optimization at MEKRA Lang is an ongoing process that is given high priority within the company and its management.

On Environment Day, the children of the Frieda Lang House for Children were also introduced to the topic of sustainability in a way that was appropriate for children.

Information about waste management

Sabine Edelhäuser from the Edelhäuser recycling company presented the recycling of energy-rich waste to those interested. For example, shredded plastic waste can be used as substitute fuel and thus recycled. It also informed participants on the subject of waste disposal.

The Environment Day at MEKRA Lang was held in this form for the first time. The employees' donations will go to BUND Naturschutz in Bavaria.
